Challenger PTA Program Chair Guidelines

Thank you so much for chairing an event at Challenger! We appreciate all the time and efforts you put into making Challenger a special place for our kids, parents & teachers.

Here are some guidelines to help you plan:

  • Budget/Facility
    • The Challenger PTA Budget is approved every June in the General Meeting for the following School Year. This budget will be posted to the Challenger PTA website.
    • Please check and see what the budget is for your event/program.
    • Please keep track of revenue/income so that you can work with the treasurer to make sure everything adds up.
    • Keep receipts of all purchases. Attach a reimbursement form to the receipts and put in the PTA Mailbox. (You may submit copies of your receipts if you would like to keep a record for yourself). Reimbursement forms can be found by the copier. 
    • If your event happens after school hours, be sure to ask the Principal's assistant to make sure the doors are unlocked during the event hours (I.e. 5-8:30 for Bingo, etc).
  • Copies
    • The cost to make copies at the school is only $0.03 per page. We encourage you to use the copiers at the school.
    • The PTA code for the copier is #2456
    • There is a current count per class posted in the Copier Room.
  • Marketing:
    • Send e-News information to the Heather Wolter by Tuesday (E-News goes out every Thursday): wolterh@issaquah.wednet.edu

    • Monthly PTA Newsletter: Contact the Co- Secretaries
    • Kid Mail (Flyers sent home). Earlier in the week the better.
    • Teacher Emails- send to the PTA Teacher Liaison Alica Ogren ogrena@issaquah.wednet.edu
    • Posters in hallways – talk to the office first
  • Volunteers:
    • Set up a Volunteer Signup on SignUpGenius.com. The more details you can put on the Sign Up (dates & times) the more likely people will sign up to volunteer. 
    • If you need staff participation (ex: you would like Ms. Kessler to speak) please contact them ASAP but no less than 1 week in advance.
    • Email the link to Amy Senior to put on the website. amyb_griswold@hotmail.com
    • Volunteers should be background checked through the school. Crosscheck volunteers with Monika in the office.
  • Custodian:
    • The cost is usually around $120-150 for a custodian. This will be a part of your event’s budget.
    • Email Challenger's custodians with a layout of tables/chairs so they can set up for you. 
  • PTA Mailbox
    • Click here to download the PTA Reimbursement Form
    • All checks and reimbursements go in the PTA Mailbox across from the office. The treasurer usually picks this up 2 times a week.
    • The PTA Cupboard is located in the Copier Room. 
  • Clean -Up
    • After an event please be sure to clean up. Put away signs, clean the display case and take down advertising. It's greatly appreciated.
